Rams like this are not found everywhere across the Mongolian steppe. Thinking back around 5-6 years ago when back-to-back severe winters took their toll on mature rams across the ecosystem in the west, this ram shows how well nature rebounds and survives. In the end though, it's the scouting makes the difference. Assessing game conditions and pattering herd behaviors year-round enables a surgical hunt strategies.

Our experienced teammates at Caprinae Safaris led the process of identifying the area and local guides that produced this big horse of a ram. In case you're wondering, he went 57"x 58" with 21" bases -- the class of ram that elevates it to world's greates trophy status.

I'll be back in Mongoilia again in late August with Northern Argail, Gobi Argali, Gobi Ibex , and White-tailed gazelle on the radar. We will be filming the entire adventure, and there will be many clips and photos to share. Stay tuned for post around mid-September.
